Overtime –

  • Dejon Burdeaux is making an impact for Lethbridge; witness the elusive box score from Fridays ‘Horns-Gaels OT game we get from David Wells, our agent in ‘The South’. ‘The ‘Mustard Man’ (Dejon – Dijon … oh, never mind) drops 30 points, including 18/20 free throws. He touches the ball often, and he takes it to the defense.  We also admire Brandon Brine’s 23 pt/13 rebs. double.
  •   Alberta Coach Craddock has a good look at his whole den of Bears in a pasting of the UNBC T’Wolves on Friday, with everyone getting good minutes, and all score … Mamadou Gueye score 19, and Brody Clark has an 11 pt/10 reb double.
  • UBC Coach, Kevin Hanson, after his ‘Birds fell just short to Seattle on Saturday, “We didn’t play very good basketball, we didn’t run our systems very well, and we’ve got to go back to the drawing board,” said Hanson. “We need to play the way we practice – we practice with so much intensity, but for whatever reason, we were a bit tight today, with the first game on the home court here. It’s the first time that half of our guys have even played on this floor. Good experience though, it’s part of growth and part of what the season’s all about.” (From Aaron Martin, Sports Information Assistant, UBC)

Overtime –

  • The Dinos are without their rookie point man, Torrez McKoy, who stayed home in Calgary after suffering a practice injury.  He is expected back in time for League play.
  •   It has been ‘over the boards‘ with all players this Fall season for many teams … Calgary has 10 playing significant minutes in most games, as does Regina.  Some teams (Lethbridge, Saskatchewan) are getting good play from their supporting cast, with injuries keeping starters off the floor.  The coaches are looking for cohesion, and to give each roster player a taste of action before the bench is shortened for for League games.
  •  Not sure why information is so sketchy with pre-season games … we would expect schools/teams to get info, results out.  Not great marketing.  One guy who definitely gets it done is Dan Kinvig, the SID at Fraser Valley; every team, every time.
